Forget Me Not

To My Dear Rasulullah ﷺ,

Tonight, my heart feels heavy in a way I can no longer keep inside, so I write this letter to you. A letter I should have written long ago. A letter born from reflection, longing, and shame for the years I spent distant from your teachings while still calling myself a Muslim.

Ya Rasulullah…forget me not.

Not because I deserve to be remembered, but because I fear how easily I have forgotten the path you sacrificed everything to bring to us.

As I sit in the quiet of this night, I realise how much of my life was spent chasing what the world told me was important like success, stability and status, while neglecting the one truth that matters: that nothing comes before Allah ﷻ , and nothing brings me closer to Him than following you.

How did I grow up learning everything about this dunya, yet remain so unaware of the man who cried, prayed, and strived for his ummah with endless love?

Ya Rasulullah ﷺ, you never forgot us.

Your nights were spent asking Allahﷻ to forgive us.

Your tears fell for people you had never met.

Your final breaths were filled with concern for the ummah you loved more than yourself.

And yet here I am, realising how often I lived as though I had forgotten you.

My days spent in your beloved city of Madinah, struck me.

Your sacrifice wasn’t just history.

Your compassion wasn’t just a story.

Your message wasn’t just for the people of the past, it was for me, for us, right now, today.

Every piece of guidance you left behind it was all so that my heart would have a way back when the world became loud. Now that I feel this pull in my heart, this soft calling back to the deen, I know it’s from Allah ﷻ , through you. A reminder not to forget the one who never forgot me.

It all began long before I could understand anything.

When I was a child, I dreamt of my older self walking through the peaceful streets of Madinah. From afar, the glowing green dome in the night felt like a gentle, comforting calling.

I remember waking up curious but calm, knowing deep inside that it had something to do with my religion, even if I couldn’t explain it then.

As I grew, I learned how Rasulullah SAW spent 13 years in Makkah calling people to Islam patiently, steadfastly so the message would survive long after his blessed lifetime. So that the ummah would never be left without guidance. So that we would have someone to intercede for us on the Day of Judgement.

Reflecting now, I’ve started to value what it truly means to preserve this religion, not only for myself, but for the generations that will come after us. May Allahﷻ  bless my parents for every dua they made, for every hope they held that I would eventually find my way back to the deen. Their prayers were a quiet rope that kept my heart connected even when I didn’t realise it.

I now understand that knowledge is not just meant to be learned, it is meant to be lived. And learning through teachers who carry the authentic teachings of Rasulullah ﷺ protects our hearts from confusion and keeps us rooted in the truth. Without proper guidance, the world’s noise can easily pull us away from what matters most.

If Allah ﷻ wills for me to have a family in the future, I pray that my home becomes one that pleases Allah ﷻ  and His Messenger a place where love is mercy, where character is worship, and where the remembrance of Allah ﷻ  fills the air the way light fills a room. I pray my children will grow up knowing who Rasulullah ﷺ, not as a figure in history, but as the guide whose example shapes how we live every single day.

Ya Allah, Ya Rasulullah…

If there is a direction in life meant for me, let it be the way it pleases You and let it be the way of Rasulullah ﷺ. Guide my heart to Your path. Make my steps firm, my intentions sincere, and my journey one that always leads back to You.

Ameen Ya Rabb.
