My beloved friends, may this reflection benefit our spiritual health and increase our love towards Allah and His messenger ﷺ
Weekly, we humbly sit in class to learn on the Greatest word of Tawheed – Laa Ilaaha Ilallah which literally means “ There is no God but Allah.” A deeper understanding of this is that there is none worthy of worship & acknowledgement besides Him because He is the creator, The Giver of Life, The One Who provides us everything.
My dear friends, as we strive to see Allah all around us, we often overlook the second part of this phrase – Muhammad Rasulullah ﷺ. Nabi Muhammad ﷺ the Messenger of Allah. If a man takes Allah as his God but disbelieves in Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as God’s final messenger, he still cannot attain belief.
A month ago, I was given a book by our beloved teacher, on the Quranic Merits of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. On page 62, it states:
Ibn Al-Wafa says;
“You are the door of Allah; whoever attempts to enter
[the Divine Presence]
From a door other than yours shall not enter it.”
The ‘you’ here is referring to Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
As much as we try to remember and see Allah in the actions that we do and the blessings that we have, we must also strive to see that the biggest blessing bestowed upon us (Islam) wouldn’t have reached us without Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
As mentioned by Habib ‘Ali Al-Jifri:”Allah ﷻ has guided you with the biggest of blessings, the blessing of “Laa Ilaaha Ilallah”. Do not feel that you are able to say this due to your own strive. You mention (Laa Ilaaha Ilallah) today, due to the price paid by Our Master Muhammad ﷺ. He was pelted with stones till his feet bled. His blessed stomach had to tied with stones due to hunger, so that you and I may say – “Laa Ilaaha Ilallah.”
To attain closeness to Allah ﷻ, one requires a heart filled with love, towards those whom Allah ﷻ loves. Imagine having a spouse who does not love your parents or the people that you love. How will that make you feel? True love is attained when one loves everyone and everything that you love.
The same analogy applies to why we should love the ones who are beloved to Allah ﷻ, The Prophets, his family, companions and the pious. Besides that, when love fills the heart, it becomes easier for one to follow the footsteps of the beloved.
It was narrated from ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ said: “Train your children to acquire three characteristics: love of your Prophet, love of his family and reading the Qur’an…” (As-Suyuti)
There are many ways of loving and attaining closeness to Our Beloved Prophet ﷺ such as learning his Sirah (biography), sending salutations upon him, following his Sunnah (actions) and having good character.
Ibu Mas’ud reported: The Messenger of Allah SAW said “The closest of people to me on the Day of Resurrection are those who sent the most blessings/salutations (Selawat) upon me.”
This hadith above shows the importance and value of sending a lot of Selawats upon our Beloved Prophet ﷺ. Imagine yourself resurrected, on the most hectic of days, the first Human, Adam A.S till the last human on earth, all resurrected at the same time. A day filled with chaos, a day full of fear. Who would you wish to be with on this particular day?

A WISE PERSON WOULD STRIVE TO BE WITH OUR BELOVED MUHAMMAD ﷺ THE SON OF ‘ABDULLAH. THE MOST BELOVED CREATION ﷺ, LOVED BY THE KING OF THE JUDGEMENT DAY, ALLAH THE EXALTED.
The Prophet ﷺ mentioned in a hadith narrated by Imam Tirmidhi
“Indeed I am the Beloved of Allah and I am not boasting, and I am the carrier of the Banner of Praise on the Day of Judgement, and I am not boasting. And I am the first intercessor, and the first to have intercession accepted from him on the Day of Judgement, and I am not boasting. And I am the first to shake the rings of Paradise (meaning on the gates of Paradise) and so Allah will open it for me and admit me into it. And with me will be the poor people from the believers, and I am not boasting. And I am the most noble among the first ones and the last ones, and I am not boasting.”
May Allah ﷻ cleanse our hearts, fill it with love of Allah and His Messenger ﷺ. May this love bring us to the highest of stations. May this love save us from the hardships of this world and the next.
May Allah bless us to comprehend the true value and status of Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, given by Allah Himself, the Lord of the entire universe. May He grant us the strength to fulfill His Trust. May He join us in the company of our Beloved ﷺ
“You will be with those whom you love.”
