In Your Absence, I Weep

In the Name of Allahﷺ, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

May peace and blessings be upon our master Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

Assalamualaikum wr wb Ya Rasulullah ﷺ,

How do I thank you Ya Rasulullah ﷺ? What difference will my thanks make and how could it ever be enough for all the sacrifices you did for me to receive. Iman, love for Allahﷺ, and the spark to seek Him.

You built the masjid carrying rocks behind your back, you chose to live so humbly when Allah ﷻ  could have granted you wealth as big as Mount Uhud. You gave rights to the oppressed and made sure your blood did not touch the ground just so that Allah ﷻ  would not overturn those lands.

All those sacrifices were so that Islam could reach me. All those sacrifices were so that I could worship Allah ﷻ in comfort. Ya Rasulullah ﷺ, you are His most beloved, yet the comfort I’m getting is more than what you received. I spend almost all my life heedless, ignorant and eating from the rizq Allahﷺ. I came here in comfort, I sit here in comfort, while you spent your whole life dedicating, fighting and risking your life for us. Even in your last breath, it was for our sake.

So tell me, how do I thank you?

I always yearned for the day I would be given the chance to meet you, but I never knew the weight of missing you until I stood outside your door. I could not stop my tears from flowing; they kept flowing and I was left there speechless, not knowing what to say or do, so I just kept weeping, hoping that you heard me.

This feels familiar: the place, the air, the people, you. All that I am experiencing feels familiar. I’ve never seen you, Ya Rasulullah ﷺ, but I weep like I’ve lived with you. I cry like I’ve witnessed you.

My soul recognises you, and I do not need any other explanation to understand why my heart reacted the way it did. In my unworthiness, Ya Rasulullah ﷺ, may Allah ﷺ send my salutations to you.

Constellations of stars so bright above could never match the light you’ve brought to this earth. Every word I utter could never match the truth you spread to mankind. Give me the strength Ya Allah ﷺ to emulate Him in every step I take. I am so full, so full of you. Keep me close, keep me close to you.

ﷺ Al Madad Ya Rasulullah
