Him And His Creation

I remember vividly the moment when my back rested against the warm sand in Mersing, the evening sun painting the horizon in strokes of orange and gold.

The sky above me stretched endlessly, and my ears absorbed the rhythmic crashing of the waves against the shore.

It was as if the ocean was breathing, alive and ancient.

The clouds drifted gently across the bright sun, each movement so graceful, so deliberate, it felt almost choreographed.

In that moment, it didn’t feel like I was simply observing nature, it felt like I was witnessing a living painting. Every millisecond was full of movement and story.

As someone who enjoys painting and dabbles in the arts, I was in awe. The entire scene felt so intentional, so masterfully arranged, it was bizarre and beautiful all at once.

I began to ponder.

Science gives us explanations, the formation of clouds, the patterns of wind, the way sound travels through air.

These answers satisfy my curiosity, but they rarely satisfy the soul. And I wanted more. I imagined the atoms beneath me, the microorganisms in the sand, the layers of existence stacked upon each other in a system far too intricate to be random.

That night, I came back to the beach. This time under a blanket of stars, lying on the same ground but feeling entirely different. I looked up, and suddenly the sky wasn’t just vast, it was infinite.

And I was small. So small. And yet, I felt seen. I felt placed. There was power in every movement I witnessed. There was intention in every detail.

That’s when verses from the Qur’an echoed in my mind especially from
Surah Ar-Rahman, where Allah repeatedly asks:

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
“So which of the favors of your Lord will you deny?”

Surah Ar-Rahman, 55:13

This Surah has always hit me deeply, but that night it sank even further. It’s not just a reminder it felt like a confrontation.

A gentle but powerful push to notice, to reflect, to recognize the layers of mercy we swim in every single day.

And it made me tear up, not out of sadness, but out of realization. It’s in moments like that where the Qur’an comes alive, not just as a book, but as a lens.

A lens through which the world becomes clearer, fuller, more meaningful.

“Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for people of understanding.”

Surah Al-Imran, 3:190

And what’s even more beautiful is how these reflections don’t stay inside you, they spill out into your conversations.

I’ve had some of the deepest, most meaningful conversations with friends just from discussing a single verse.

One ayah leads to reflection. Reflection leads to dialogue. Dialogue leads to connection, both with each other, and with the Divine.

I realise now that my start in Hijrah was by conversations stemming from the kitab.

It’s like the Qur’an is not just inviting you to think, it’s inviting you to connect.

With yourself, with others, and with Allah. And honestly, what’s more fulfilling than that?

If you love thinking, truly thinking, I believe the Qur’an will meet you there. It doesn’t just inform, it transforms.

It opens doors in your heart and mind you didn’t know existed. It turns moments into mirrors.

Questions into journeys.

It turns a night on the beach into a conversation with the Creator.
