A Heart in Longing for the One Who Remembered Us

Assalamualaikum wr wb,

Innallāha wa malā’ikatahū yuṣallūna ‘alan-nabiyy, yā ayyuhal-ladhīna āmanū ṣallū ‘alaihi wa sallimū taslīmā.

Ya Rasulullah,

It is with deep honour and gratitude that we are given the chance to visit you once again. I cannot help but feel there is a reason behind this blessing. Is it because my heart has grown dry like a land in drought, and my body and soul feel bound by my own nafs? I wonder.

Ya Rasulullah,

How beautiful it would have been if you were still among us today. Would our hearts still be so harsh towards one another? Or would we have fallen even further from the state we are in now? I wonder.

Ya Rasulullah,

How immense was your mercy towards the people of Taif, despite their ridicule and abuse. Will we ever see, show, or even taste a fraction of that mercy among ourselves? I wonder.

Ya Rasulullah,

How patient you were with your companions and your wives. Will we ever be able to carry even a portion of that patience with the people closest to us? I wonder.

Ya Rasulullah,

We miss you deeply. We wish you were here to guide us, as you once cried and worried for those who would come after you, even without having met us. Now, we understand why.

Until we meet again…
