The verses of the Qur’an are the sacred words of Allah, and they have guided humanity for centuries, offering wisdom, comfort, and clarity. I have always known of their importance, but it has taken me many years and I am still learning to truly appreciate their depth and significance in my own life.

One of the most central themes of the Qur’an is the oneness of God, known as Tawhid. The concept of Tawhid is simple in words but profound in understanding. It is the realization that Allah is the sole Creator, the Sustainer, and the Master of the universe.

Nothing is comparable to Him, nothing rivals His might, and nothing exists outside His will. This truth has been a cornerstone of my faith, though I must admit, it took me decades to grasp it fully in both understanding and practice.

Even now, I continue to strive to internalize it in my daily life. A verse that resonates deeply with me is from

“Say, ‘He is Allah, [who is] One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge.

Surah Al-Ikhlas (112)

He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent.’” These words are simple yet powerful, a declaration of the uniqueness and perfection of Allah.

When I recite this verse, I am reminded of how limited my knowledge is and how much I still have to learn. It humbles me to think that despite my years, I am only beginning to scratch the surface of understanding the greatness of Allah and His attributes.

Attending Ustaz Sameer’s Qur’an classes has been a blessing in this stage of my life.

Alhamdulillah, even though it takes me time to grasp the lessons and my learning is slow, I have found patience and encouragement in his teaching.

With each class, I feel my connection to Allah growing stronger. I am learning not only to read the words correctly but also to reflect on their meaning, their relevance to my life, and the guidance they offer. It is a continual process of growth and reflection, and I am grateful for every moment.

The lessons of Tawhid, particularly through Surah Al-Ikhlas, remind me of the responsibilities I bear as a servant of Allah.

We are His slaves, and our duty is to worship Him alone, to submit to His will, and to strive continually for righteousness.

The Qur’an does not merely call for belief; it calls for action, for improvement, for constant reflection, and for a commitment to living according to His guidance.

I OFTEN FIND MYSELF REFLECTING ON MY OWN SHORTCOMINGS, RECOGNIZING HOW MUCH I HAVE TO IMPROVE, AND PRAYING FOR THE STRENGTH TO EMBODY THE TEACHINGS I AM LEARNING.

Being a grandmother, I also feel a profound responsibility to pass on this love and respect for the Qur’an to my family.

I pray that my children and grandchildren not only know the words but also understand their meaning and embody the principles in their lives. In this way, learning the Qur’an becomes not just a personal journey but a family legacy, a source of blessing, guidance, and protection for generations to come.

I am deeply grateful to Allah for the opportunity to continue learning at my age.

Every class, every verse, every reflection is a gift that I cherish. I feel a renewed sense of purpose as I grow older, knowing that it is never too late to seek knowledge, to strengthen one’s faith, and to draw closer to Allah. The Qur’an is a timeless guide, and through it, I find comfort, direction, and hope.

To Ustaz Sameer, I extend my heartfelt gratitude. May Allah reward you abundantly for your efforts in teaching and guiding us. Your patience, wisdom, and dedication have been instrumental in helping me understand more deeply, reflect sincerely, and practice more faithfully.

I pray that Allah blesses you with endless Barakah in your life and your work, and that He continues to use you as a means of guidance for all of us seeking His pleasure.

Alhamdulillah, I may be slow in learning, but with each day, I feel more confident, more aware, and more committed to this path.

May Allah accept our efforts, forgive our shortcomings, and guide me to continuously improve in knowledge, understanding, and practice. Truly, the Qur’an is the light of our lives, and by Allah’s mercy, I hope to remain a humble seeker of His wisdom for as long as I am able.
