Where Do We Position The Messenger ‎ﷺ in our Lives?

How should we position the Messenger ‎ﷺ, the next time we discover, read, and learn about the Prophet ‎ﷺ?

As Muslims, we are aware of at least four situations:

“Allah ﷻ has created everything with a purpose and this led us to question on the purpose of our lives. “

Quran 3:189-191

“Allah ﷻ has intended His creation of jinn & mankind to worship Him  and this led us to question how we are supposed to do so.”

Quran 51:56

“Allah ﷻ has created us in order to test us and this has led us to ask how to pass these tests.”

Quran 67:2

“Allah ﷻ has pre-determined the “maqadir” (specifications, details, and measurements) for all of his creations 50,000 years prior to the creation of the earth and heavens and this also led us to ask how to respond to various life’s incidents correctly and appropriately. “

Sahih Muslim

Hence, we are in dire need of guidance and tutelage on how to live our lives, how to find solutions to our problems, and how to respond and react correctly. InshaAllah, we will get all of these from the Prophet ‎ﷺ as he presented to us how to live a righteous life, appropriately measure and attain success in this life and hereafter and how to deal with life’s tests and failures.

Therefore, how should we position the Messenger ‎ﷺ, the next time we discover, read, and learn about the Prophet ‎ﷺ?

As a Spiritual Teacher who enlightens our souls.

As a Religious Teacher who guides our bodily acts of worship.

As a Confidant to whom we confide our heart’s worries and fears.

As a Beacon of Hope to motivate our minds to search for solutions in desperate times.

As a Mentor who holds us through this life’s maze.

So, let us pause a second the next time we wish to make claims that we love the Prophet ‎ﷺ—feeding only to the “feel-good-Muslim” urges in us.

Let us read the beautiful Shamaa’il and the Sirah of our Prophet ‎ﷺ with proper and practical objectives, with hopes and prayers that once we have genuinely and sincerely emulated his beautiful character and way of life, Allah ﷻ will bestow upon our hearts—as well as the whole of our existence—the true love for our Prophet ‎ﷺ.
