O Messenger, I came to Madinah

By Kashful Ilahi

In the stillness of dawn, before the world wakes,

I whisper your name, and my heart softly aches.

O Beloved of God, mercy to all mankind,

In your footsteps, my soul seeks to find.

O Ashraful Khalq ,

At Uhud, when stones struck your blessed face

and your blood flowed onto the earth,

you cried not for yourself, but for us.

Yet your prayer was not vengeance,

but guidance for those to come.

What heart can witness such love and remain unchanged?

O Prophet who wiped tears from the orphan’s eye,

who stood by the weak, who answered every sigh,

You honoured the women with dignity, with grace.

In your words, I find my place.

I stood before the green dome,

a place that once held your warmth,

your home.

I claim to love you,

and I am not alone.

Ya Mustafa,When the world feels heavy and I am small,

I remember your patience, how you stood tall.

O Messenger, my guide, my soul’s gentle friend,

Through you, my faith will never bend.

Ya Rasulullah,

You loved us before our eyes ever met,

You loved us before we drew our first breath.

“Ummati Ummati”, with your final breath.

We took your last breath,

and now I understand why sending salawat

is among the greatest deeds.

We return your breath to you,

and it will never be enough.

Ya Habibullah,

Every word you uttered, every step you took,

every breath that left you

was carved from love,

paving a path for a nation

that would never know true love

unless it knew you.

Ya Jamal al-Kawn,

the most beautiful creation of God,

I stand here in Madinah,

where your shadow once fell,

Where the stones feel like witnesses,

where your smile once softened hearts,

where revelation descended

like Nur upon Nur.

How does a sinner speak before the one

who never wronged a soul?

How does a trembling heart speak of love

to the one who perfected it?

O Messenger of Allah,

If you were to see me,

my mistakes, my flaws, my uneven faith,

would you still call me “your ummah”?

I know you would.

And that knowledge breaks me

and mends me all at once.

Here, in this city,

my heart writes what my tongue cannot.

Here, your mercy feels close enough to touch.
